ONC Prospects

Overview

ONC Premier is a year-round development and competition program for 14U and 16U players who are ready to take the next step in their baseball journey.

Formerly offered as ONC Development at the 14U level, the expanded program provides committed athletes with high-quality coaching, purposeful training, and meaningful game experience. Players follow individualized development plans focused on refining their skills, improving game awareness, building confidence, and preparing for future opportunities within the ONC Baseball pathway.

Beginning in spring 2027, ONC Premier teams will compete in the Canadian Premier Baseball League’s Prospect Division. With smaller rosters and a competitive league schedule, players will receive consistent playing time and the repetitions they need to develop. Athletes may also have opportunities to participate as affiliate players with ONC Premier teams in the CPBL Premier Division.

The program combines fall development, structured off-season training, and a full spring and summer competitive schedule in a supportive, high-performance environment.

Fall Season

The ONC Premier season begins in early September with a fall development phase running through Thanksgiving.

Players train one to two times per week and participate in simulated games and other competitive opportunities on weekends. Sessions are fast-paced, position-specific, and designed to maximize meaningful repetitions. Players work in smaller groups based on position and developmental needs, allowing them to receive focused instruction and remain engaged throughout each session.

The fall also serves as an important evaluation period. ONC coaches assess each player’s strengths, areas for improvement, and overall game awareness. These evaluations help shape individualized off-season training plans and establish clear priorities for the winter.

Fall programming takes place primarily at Hamilton Yards and focuses on development, execution, and preparation for the next phase of training.

Off-Season Training

Off-season training begins in January and runs for 17 weeks.

Players train once per week at Bell Sensplex or the Stittsville Dome, with access to specialized hitting and pitching sessions at ONC Labs. Each workout is carefully planned to deliver focused, high-intensity training that helps athletes make measurable progress throughout the winter.

Programming includes position-specific skill development and individualized focus areas identified during the fall evaluation period. Optional strength and conditioning sessions are also available to support athletic development, durability, and injury prevention.

The off-season is where players build the technical and physical foundation needed to enter the competitive season prepared and confident.

Tournaments

During the spring and summer, ONC Premier teams will compete in the CPBL Prospect Division at the 14U and 16U levels.

The league is expected to feature a 30- to 32-game schedule followed by playoffs, giving players consistent opportunities to compete against quality opposition. Prospect Division rosters will be limited to a maximum of 16 players, helping ensure that athletes receive meaningful playing time and opportunities to apply what they have learned in training.

Teams will continue to practise twice per week throughout the competitive season. Select tournament and travel opportunities in Canada and the United States may also be added to the schedule.

Eligible players may have opportunities to affiliate with ONC Premier teams in the CPBL Premier Division. Players may also be considered for CPBL Prospect All-Star programming and other league development opportunities.

Travel expenses—including accommodations, meals, and transportation—are the responsibility of each family. Following the conclusion of the competitive season, players will receive a scheduled break before evaluations and tryouts for the following year begin in late August.

In-Depth Player Assessment

As part of the ONC Premier experience, all players will undergo a professional-grade Player Assessment using FieldPro AI, our custom-built performance tracking software. Assessments are conducted at ONC Labs, using cutting-edge technology like Trackman, Rapsodo, and HitTrax to capture detailed data on pitching and hitting mechanics.

Each player receives a personalized performance profile, including:

  • Pitch velocity, spin rate, and movement metrics
  • Hitting exit velocity, launch angle, and contact zone analysis
  • Multi-angle video review
  • Benchmark comparisons by age/level
  • Key development areas and training priorities

This data-driven approach allows our coaching staff to create customized development plans and monitor progress throughout the year. Players also have the ability to control privacy settings and make their profiles public for college coaches and recruiters—giving them a professional, data-backed platform to showcase their skills and gain exposure.

Player Expectations

Balancing Sports & Commitments

We understand that many of our athletes participate in multiple sports, and we encourage them to be well-rounded competitors. We ask that players communicate with their coaches when conflicts arise and prioritize their ONC commitments during league play and tournament season. Like any elite program, the more time and effort invested, the greater the development and performance on the field.

Player Growth

Building Character & Leadership

Sports play a crucial role in shaping young athletes—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Whether our players continue their baseball journey at the collegiate or professional level or pursue other paths, ONC Development provides a high-level experience that prepares them for success in life.

Beyond competition, our program helps players develop resilience, sportsmanship, and leadership skills. They learn to handle victories with humility, face challenges with confidence, and contribute to their community through volunteer efforts.
