The Ottawa Nepean Canadians Baseball Club new Executive Director is TJ Burton, marking an exciting new chapter for the organization. TJ will oversee all baseball and business operations for the club moving forward. With an impressive background in both playing and business, TJ brings a wealth of experience that promises to enhance the club’s programming and outreach.

Born and raised in Ottawa, TJ played baseball at a high level both professionally and internationally, showcasing his talent and passion for the game over the course of his career. This playing background not only instilled in him the values of teamwork and dedication but also provided him with firsthand insight into the challenges faced by young athletes. His journey through the ranks of competitive baseball has equipped him with the knowledge necessary to develop effective training programs and support systems for aspiring players.

In addition to his athletic background, TJ has spent the last 14 years with the Toronto Blue Jays, where he has excelled in developing programming that spans from grassroots to high-performance levels. His work with the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy has been instrumental in fostering a love for baseball among youth and providing them with the resources necessary to improve their skills. TJ’s commitment to player development has helped countless athletes realize their potential, making him a respected figure in the baseball community.

Since its inception in 2013, TJ has also acted as the Showcase Director for the Canadian Future Showcase put on by the Toronto Blue Jays. In this role, he has been responsible for organizing and overseeing events that provide young players with the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of scouts and coaches. This position has further solidified his reputation as a leader in player development and has given him invaluable experience in talent evaluation and recruitment.

Under TJ's leadership, the Ottawa Nepean Canadians are set to undergo significant expansion, growing from just 3 teams to 6 teams. This expansion not only reflects a growing interest in the sport within the community but also demonstrates TJ's vision for inclusivity and accessibility in youth baseball. By increasing the number of teams, the Canadians aim to provide more young athletes with the opportunity to participate, develop their skills, and enjoy the game they love at a high level.

Additionally, ONC have launched a new junior program, the Ottawa Nepean Canucks, which will operate at the 10U, 11U, and 12U levels for 2024-2025. This initiative aims to create a solid foundation for young players and ensure that they receive quality coaching and development from an early age. The Canucks will complement the existing structure of ONC allowing for a seamless transition for players as they advance through the ranks.

Moreover, the Canadians are entering the prestigious 

, a move that will elevate the level of competition and exposure for their players. Joining the CPBL allows ONC to compete against some of the best talent in the country, further enhancing the development pathways for their athletes. This prestigious affiliation will also help the club attract top coaches and provide players with valuable experiences that could lead to higher levels of play, while fostering partnerships for growth within the community. 

Expressing his enthusiasm for the future, TJ stated, “I am incredibly excited about the coaching staff we have assembled. A New Chapter for the Ottawa Nepean Canadians Baseball Club

The Ottawa Nepean Canucks 10U team capped off a flawless tournament run with an emphatic 13-3 victory over the Sandlot Beasts 9U in the championship game of the Montreal Titans Tournament. Playing in front of a lively crowd in Montreal, the Canucks completed their undefeated run, going 5-0 throughout the tournament and lifting the championship trophy after a superb all-around team effort.

From the first pitch, it was clear that the Canucks were in championship form. Led by the exceptional pitching of 

, who struck out multiple batters in critical moments, the Canucks shut down the Beasts’ offense and quickly took control of the game.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Canucks offense began to roll. 

 got things started with a sharp single to left field, and it was followed by a clutch double from 

, which brought home McCaffrey, tying the game at 1-1.

In a masterful display of pitching and defense, the Ottawa Nepean Canucks 11U team claimed a decisive 4-0 victory over the Canada Reds 11U to win the championship. From start to finish, the Canucks executed their game plan with precision, anchored by the dominant pitching performance of 

, who struck out an impressive number of batters and kept the Reds’ offense off-balance throughout the game.

 was untouchable on the mound, leading the charge for the Canucks with a complete-game shutout. His poise and control were on full display as he struck out the side multiple times, finishing with a total of 12 strikeouts. In critical moments, Turner showed incredible composure, particularly in the sixth inning when he struck out two Reds batters in a row and forced a flyout to seal the win.

From the very first inning, Turner set the tone by striking out the first three Canada Reds batters, leaving no doubt that he was locked in. ONC Releases New Organizational Structure for 2025

ONC Baseball has been a staple in the Ottawa baseball community for more than 50 years, producing many college and professional players through its rich history.

The Ottawa Nepean Canadians Baseball Club is excited to announce the following organizational updates for the 

We are pleased to announce that ONC’s day-to-day baseball and business operations will be led by 

 and his company, ONC Operations. TJ will take over effective November 1

, 2024. Born and raised in Ottawa, TJ has worked in baseball for more than two decades, including fourteen years spearheading the Toronto Blue Jays’ youth baseball programs at the grassroots and high-performance levels. He has an extensive background and strategic skill set in the high-performance space having worked with programs across the country as Tournament Director of the prestigious Canadian Futures Showcase for over a decade. Before that, he played professionally with the Cleveland Guardians and Houston Astros organizations for ten years. TJ represented Canada more than ten times, notably at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2009 World Baseball Classic. He has also served as a guest coach with Baseball Canada’s Junior National team on multiple occasions. 

“I am excited to lead a dedicated team of coaches and players, contribute to a winning culture of consistency and respect, and make ONC the premier high-performance baseball program in the Ottawa region,” said 

. “Putting our players and coaches in a position to succeed will be a huge priority early on in this process. Our focus is to grow and develop our players, placing them in the best baseball environment when they are done with us.”

TJ will set the organization’s strategic goals and identify growth opportunities. The Board will remain in place to oversee ONC’s fundraising and long-term future.

We are also happy to share that the 613 Kings organization will join the Ottawa Nepean Canadians family under the ONC umbrella. This will grow the organization to six teams in 2025 and increase players' and coaches' talent level and depth.

“The Kings' goal has always been to collaborate with everyone in Ottawa’s baseball community and to run the strongest program possible,” said

“Teaming up with ONC allows us to combine resources on and off the field to provide the best development experience for our players and product for our parents.” 

ONC will also launch a junior program for local youth as a direct pipeline into the organization. More information on this will be coming soon.

ONC strives to get better every day and build on our foundational development principles to provide the best coaching possible for our players. Our entire coaching group will be announced later in the summer as we work through assignments.

Tryouts for all age groups will be held at ONC’s home diamond, Hamilton Yards. More information on this will be posted on our social media pages and website in the coming days.
