ONC Announces Coaching Changes for 2017 Season

The Ottawa Nepean Canadians announce that Matt Dubord will be taking on the role of 18U Manager, and Mike Tokessy moves into the role of 16U Manager for 2017.

It is with pleasure we announce the addition Brad Fairholm as our 15U Manager for the 2017 season. Brad has been coaching baseball in the Ottawa area since 2005, including coaching Little League District 6 Championship teams at the Minor,  Major and Junior levels, as well as OBA AAA. Brad earned a scholarship to Lynn University where he was a four-year letter winner from 1989-1992,  and was just the second baseball player ever elected to Lynn’s Sports Hall of Fame in 2008. In 1991, he set a school record and led NAIA District 25 in hitting average and stolen bases, earning Team MVP and NAIA All-Star honors. He was also a runner-up as the NAIA District 25 Player of the Year. He brings infectious enthusiasm to the ballpark and will complement the rest of our staff in developing young players, and young men, and in growing baseball in the Ottawa area.

After being on-field with ONC for 6 seasons, the last 3 as the 18U manager, Tanner Watson hands over the 18U reins to Matt with full confidence in him, as well as the rest of the ONC staff . Tanner will remain as a member of the ONC organization, and will continue to help develop our programs and players.

ONC PBLO Playoff Success

2016 15U PLBO Champions

A great weekend of baseball saw all three teams successful in the PBLO playoffs, with the 15U team taking the 15U PBLO Championship, the 16U going to the finals, and 18U to the semi-finals.

A 3-2 win over the 15U Royals captured the 15U PBLO championship after wins against all their pool opponents. Dave Legault was the difference offensively scoring two runs on passed balls with excellent base running. He was 2/3 with a single and a double. Joe Toms pitched a complete game to pick up the win. Toms showed great composure on the mound battling through a couple of tough innings giving up 2 runs (1ER), 5 hits, 4k, and walking one(HBP).

The 16U team faced a strong Windsor team in the finals, and fell short despite a solid effort.  Their first meeting against the Selects, who finished first in league play (16-1), was in brackets where Ken Nguyen struck out 10 while only allowing 2 hits for a complete game 4-0 win to propel the team to the finals.

18U finish their PBLO season with a 1-0 semi-final loss to the Ontario Royals. ONC carried the momentum they gained in a sweep of their final regular season series into the PBLO playoffs. They advanced to the crossover semi-final matching up with the eventual PBLO playoff champion Ontario Royals. In a classic pitcher’s duel and defensive battle, the home team Royals scored the only run of the game, with a 2 out single in the bottom of the 7th to win 1-0.
