The Ottawa Nepean Canadians are pleased to announce Jonathan Dale as the 18U Manager for 2018. Jon brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position. After a year with the Ottawa White Sox (2001), Jon played for ONC (2002-2004), attending Mitchell College on scholarship as a shortstop. He returned to Carleton University to further his education and played for the Ravens (2004-2007), winning a National CIBA award for university top hitter. In 2010, Jon joined the Ottawa Fat Cats team of the Intercounty Baseball League, playing with them for 2 years. He has coached with ONC for several years as a hitting coach, instructing at our camps, and as an 18U assistant coach for 5 seasons (2012-2016).
Mike Tokessy will continue as 16U Manager, entering his 3rd season with ONC.
Bill Carkner will take on the role of15U Manager for 2018. Also an ONC alumni (2001-2002), Bill was an assistant coach with the successful ONC 15U team in the 2017 season and has coached in the Ottawa area for several years.
After 10 seasons on-field with ONC as a coach, the last as the 18U manager, Matt Dubord hands over the 18U reins to Jon. After careful consideration, Matt leaves to pursue career opportunities. Thanks to Matt for all of his contributions, on and off the field, and his dedicated years of coaching.
ONC is pleased to announce tryout details regarding 2018 player selection for all levels (15U, 16U, 18U).
Teams will begin preparing for the 2018 season with a 2017 fall program that will include a balance of team practices and competitive games. Team workouts will continue with an indoor winter program commencing in January 2018 followed by PBLO league play in May/June and tournament play in the month of July and early August.

ONC’s 15U team brought home this weekend’s PBR’s 2017 Cardinal Classic title, showing grit and determination, having to win 3 on Sunday to capture the crown.
Going 2-1 in pool play, the Canadians had to go undefeated in Rochester, NY. Sunday for the tournament victory. They started the day with a 6-1 over Webster Warthogs, a tight 3-0 victory over CHP Gators and captured the title with a dominant 11-0 victory over the Albany Area Barnstormers in the final.
ONC hopes to carry the momentum into PBLO playoffs this weekend with all 3 clubs in action. The 15U and 18U Canadians will be in Windsor, ON., where the 15U will defend the league title, and the 16Us travel to London, ON.
Congratulations to 18U ONC Centre Fielder Angus Adams, now a member of Team Ontario.
Adams, an ONC veteran, who hit for both power and average while patrolling CF for the Canadians during this year’s PBLO season has been named to the Ontario Youth Team’s final roster. Adams will represent Ontario in the 2017 Canada Games to be held in Winnipeg, Manitoba July 28-August 13.

The 16U Canadians spent both Canada Day and Independence Day south of the border winning baseball games, bringing home the championship banner from the Big Vision 4th of July Summer Shootout in Reading, PA
After sweeping their opening games on Canada Day, the Canadians battled through the remainder of the opening round and finished with a 4-2 record to enter the playoff bracket. Two wins later, after a total of 8 games, the Canadians defeated York Young Revolution 12-2 in 4 innings to bring home the hardware… a great start to the Summer Season!
ONC hopes to keep the momentum going into this weekend, with all 3 teams in the US this weekend.

The Ontario Youth Team has named seven Canadians’ players to their 2017 – 40 man roster. 16U team members Ben Adams (pitcher), Caden Griffin (pitcher), Matt Wiggins (pitcher), and Jason Zhang (short stop), join 18U team members Angus Adams (outfield), Justin Dineen (catcher) and Jack Walsh (second base) as 7 of Ontario’s best.
Team Ontario will compete in the 2017 Canada Summer Games to be held in Winnipeg Manitoba.
In addition, Griffin, Wiggins, Dineen and Angus Adams were named to Canada’s entry in the prestigious Sunbelt Classic Tournament in Oklahoma. It has been called the top tournament for high school juniors and sophomores in the US with over 200 players who have played in the MLB that have participated in this event since 1998.
The Canadian entry will meet 9 teams from Arizona, Colorodo, Georgia, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and Tennessee.
2016 CIS National semi-finalist Carleton Ravens sign 4 ONC 18U players. Congratulations to David Castillo and Troy Clark in their first year, who join Eshan Silva and Ryan Burnside who are entering their second season with the Ravens.
