ONC 18U Sweeps Titans in Statement Weekend Series at Hamilton Yards
OTTAWA, ON — The 2024–25 Ottawa Nepean Canadians 18U squad put together a dominant weekend at Hamilton Yards, sweeping the visiting Titans in four straight games. With explosive offense, clutch pitching, and depth up and down the lineup, ONC outscored the Titans 44–10 over the weekend series.
Game 1 (Saturday): Barkley Leads the Charge in 14–2 Win
Matt Barkley set the tone early, going a perfect 3-for-3 with a double and two singles as ONC rolled to a 14–2 win. The offense chipped away early with a run in each of the first three innings before exploding for seven runs in the sixth. Key hits came from Carter Seeley, Cedric Fortin (3-RBI double), and Matthew McGuinness.
Ryan Allard was lights out on the mound, tossing five no-hit innings with nine strikeouts to earn the win. Jacob Thomson drove in four runs, and ONC racked up 11 team walks and six stolen bases, including multiple from Barkley and Ethan Arthurs.
Game 2 (Saturday): Seeley’s Clutch Hit Seals 7–5 Comeback Victory
Trailing 5–3 heading into the sixth, ONC rallied with a trio of hits to take the lead. A two-run single by Carter Seeley capped off the comeback, scoring Matt Albert and Aidan Loney.
Dylan Findlay closed it out with 3.1 innings of one-hit, scoreless relief, striking out four to earn the win. Jibril Gebara started and struck out four over 3.2 innings. Jacob Thomson led the offense with a 2-for-3 line, while Barkley, Albert, Loney, and Seeley all added RBIs. McGuinness drew two walks and helped ONC total six on the day.
Game 3 (Sunday): ONC Explodes for 11–1 Win Behind Balanced Attack
After falling behind 1–0 in the first, ONC answered quickly and never looked back, scoring six in the bottom of the first and adding runs in each of the next two frames to cruise to an 11–1 win.
Cedric Fortin drove in two runs and scored another, while Jake Ferris and Nelson Kaluza each added two hits. Kaluza also knocked in two. Thomson kept his hot streak alive with two hits and an RBI.
Ethan Bathurst earned the win on the mound, striking out seven and walking just one over five innings, allowing no earned runs.
Game 4 (Sunday): Barkley Stays Hot as ONC Wraps Weekend with 12–2 Victory
Matt Barkley continued to rake, going 3-for-4 with two singles and a double, and driving in two more runs. ONC broke the game open with a seven-run fourth inning, highlighted by a 3-RBI double from Matt Albert and a 2-RBI double by Barkley.
Aidan Loney picked up the win, allowing just two runs over two innings. Declan Feeney and Andrew Amos were effective in relief, combining for four scoreless innings. ONC tallied 14 hits in total, with multi-hit games from Kaluza, McGuinness, and Barkley. Jake Ferris also stole two bases.
