ONC Parents/Players Donate Baseball Equipment
Christine Pratley-Moore is an ONC parent. She made a trip to the Dominican Republic in November and as part of that trip brought used baseball equipment to a boys' school in Cabarete, DR.

Christine organized the initiative to collect used baseball equipment from ONC players and arranged to transport it to the Dominic Republic.  Thanks so much for making this happen, Christine!

Here is Christine's message from the trip...

Good Morning From Cabarete!

Yesterday, we visited a boys school in the mountains of Sosua. We had the opportunity to have a tour and learn all about the program.

The Nino de Laluz school, provides them schooling, structure, responsibility with the intention to be able to live a better life when they graduate. Currently there are seventeen boys at the school, all ranging from 6-19. They have been rescued from the streets because their parents don’t feel they are of any use to them.

I have attached a picture of the younger boys who were all over the hats. The older boys were out doing chores at the time, so I wasn’t able to meet them.

Shannon, the founder of the school, explained that they have a store on the property where some of the donations will go. The boys are given “money” as rewards and allowances. So, not only will the donations bring the kids happiness, it also goes further than that and teaches them to properly manage their money.

A heartfelt thank you to those who sent donations. The impact these items have on these children is more than you know.

Take care,

Christine
