Mission & Vision (ONC Baseball)

PrintMission & Vision

MISSION:

Since 1970, the Ottawa Nepean Canadians Baseball Club has provided top-level players in the Eastern Ontario area with the opportunity to play the highest calibre of competitive baseball.

We currently offer elite 14 -18 year olds a comprehensive program to develop and refine their skills, enabling them to continue on as student-athletes, with some going on to reach the professional levels of baseball. Graduates of our program have consistently achieved success professionally, on our national team, and at universities and colleges across Canada and U.S.A.

ONC fields four teams: 18U, 16U, 15U and 14U, with a program designed to provide year-round player development, promoting teamwork, quality competition and generous exposure for these top players. Players selected to our program prepare for the following season with a fall program that include a balance of team practices and competitive games. Team workouts continue with an indoor winter program commencing in January.

We compete in league play in the  AAAA Premier Baseball League of Ontario (PBLO), the province’s original and longest-running elite baseball association for high-performance athletes recognized as one of the best in Canada.  The PBLO is officially recognized by Baseball Canada and is an associate member of Baseball Ontario. This associate member status provides our players with the opportunity to tryout/participate in OBA Special events such as the Ontario Cup and Canada Summer Games.

Through the summer, the teams play in a number of prestigious and showcase tournaments in the United States and Canada, providing our players will exposure to collegiate coaches and scouts.

VISION:

There is no question about the important role sports plays in the
well-being of youth, in terms of physical fitness and mental health.
Whether our players continue to their baseball careers at the collegiate level, professionally, or simply move on with their education and career, the Canadians baseball club provides our players and their parents with an elite experience.

Time spent in the Canadians program also helps them prepare for adulthood by developing the ability to graciously accept success, remain strong during tough situations and difficult outcomes, and be good members of the community through volunteer service efforts by our players.

HOW:

The Canadians baseball club is managed by a group of volunteers, all of whom had players go through the program. The Club operates on
zero-based budgeting, with all proceeds from player fees and sponsorships going back into the program.
