ONC 2018 Summer Tournament Play Underway
Submitted By Shail Palliwal on Monday, July 16, 2018
The second half of the 2018 season is well underway.  18U, 16U and 15U teams from the Ottawa Nepean Canadians have already played in several prestigious tournaments in the US.  ONC coaches and executive carefully select these tournaments to ensure the level of competition is strong, and to ensure there is exposure for our 18U players and 16U players to US college representatives.

The 15U team was in Lehigh Valley, PA, near Allentown, PA for the ECTB Clash of Champions Tournament, where they faced some strong opponents.   The 15U team also recently completed play in the Easton Elite Championships in Hartford, CT where they reached the tournament semi-finals. Coming up for the 15U team is the PBR Empire State Classic, July 20-22nd in Rochester, NY.

The 16U team heads to Ohio later this week to complete in the Wolverine-Buckeye Tournament in Bowling Green, OH.   This is the third tournament of the season for the 16Us; earlier this summer they played in back-to-back events in New Jersey.  The team first played in the Rutgers University Mid-Atlantic Classic, hosted at Rutgers University where the team played five games and reached the semi-finals.  After a short break the team then played in the Garden State Invitational in nearby Flemington, NJ. The event was hosted at the fabulous Diamond Nation complex, and the team faced strong competition from area teams.  The team played six games in this tournament and again reached the semi-finals.

Our 18U team is also headed to Ohio for the Wolverine-Buckeye Tournament.   This will be their second tournament of the season. The 18U played at the University of Pittsburgh a couple of weeks back at the Mid-Atlantic Wood Bat Tournament.

The last weekend in July, all teams take a break from US tournament play to compete in the PBLO league playoffs.   The Ottawa Nepean Canadians Baseball Club is hosting the 15U PBLO playoffs at Hamilton Yards in Nepean. Come out and support ONC from July 27-29th.  The 16U team travels to London, ON for their league playoffs, while the 18U team travels to Windsor, ON to compete in their league championships. Good luck to all the teams!

Our teams then resume US tournament play in the first of August.   See our next post for the results of this final US trip of the 2018 season.
